SB Rail tests latest Kirow crane in tandem mode

SB Rail tested its latest Kirow KRC 250 crane featuring an extending counterweight in tandem lifting mode at Leeds Holbeck on the 3rd of August 2016.

Network Rail’s modular beam was used to lift a test panel, proving the new crane’s ability to work alongside those from SB Rail’s existing fleet.

The new KRC 250 crane is scheduled to enter operational service in mid-September 2016.

Commenting on the successful test, Phil Allanson, Head of Plant, said…

“The successful test of our new Kirow KRC 250 working in tandem with one of our existing cranes is an important step forward. The new crane is a significant addition to our fleet and extends the lifting capabilities SB Rail can offer”.
