SB Rail support Rail Week open days at RTS Infrastructure

13th October 2017

As avid supporters of promoting diversity and career opportunities in the rail industry we were delighted to be invited to demonstrate our services during the RTS Infrastructure open days on the 10th and 11th of October.  Hosted by Chris Reid, Operations Director in support of Rail Week; RTS opened its doors for 90 Kippax North Primary pupils, ranging from ages  6 to 9, to exhibit the skills, career paths and fun of the rail industry.

The 2 day event was attended by John Yapp, OTM Driver Trainer, Greg Butcher, OTM Fitter Operator, and Tracey Barber, HR Manager, who declared it a raging success. Tracey had this to say:

“The promotion of STEM related careers is extremely important; many of our younger generation view a career in the rail industry as a non-viable option. The last 2 days have shown both boys and girls that careers in rail can be exciting, rewarding and extremely worthwhile. Congratulations to Chris Reid and his team for opening the doors and putting on a fantastic event to promote Rail week and STEM prospects. Extra special thanks to the pupils of Kippax North for their admirable behaviour and fantastic enthusiasm.”

Chris Reid had this to say:

“Genuinely impressed and proud of the SB Rail team on site who, completely umprompted, devised an interactive engineering demonstration that the kids could engage with.  Some great feedback from the kids about the lifting jacks and engineering in general.  Specifically Greg and John were heroes on the day.  Thanks to all for their assistance and I look forward to bigger and better next year.”
