The Paisley Canal Electrification scheme was hailed as groundbreaking, setting a new standard for the delivery of electrification projects.
This £12 million project saw an 8 kilometre stretch of the line from Glasgow Central to Paisley Canal electrified. Piling works were completed using SB Rail’s Electrification Piling Train (EPT) which enabled new electric rolling stock to run just 44 days after the first pile was driven.
The EPT achieved significantly higher outputs than conventional methods and passengers are now benefiting from from a more comfortable and reliable train service.
Benefits to the project:
Our fleet of on-track machines is the most advanced in the UK, including the latest tamping, ballast management, and crane technologies available.
